Sledding at Soldier Hollow

We took a winter getaway to Park City to visit my family and go skiing.
One serious bonus was my parents treating us to a sledding trip. This was Allie's first time and we were nervous about it. She tends to be afraid of everything until we force her to do it and then she's hooked.
She was super excited to get her intertube and go up the tow rope. She thought that was "sledding." When we were at the top all she kept saying was, "I don't know about this!" She went down with Doug the first time and LOVED it. When we got to the bottom of the hill she would say, "Let's do that again" everytime.

Since Katelyn wasn't old enough to sled, one of us stayed with her each time and ran her around in an intertube. She loved it, but was not a fan of the montrous snowsuit we had her in. :)

It wasn't busy, the sun was shining, and we had a blast. This is a memory everyone will remember, especially Allie!!

Allie's first run. She was looking around, pretty worried about things!

Awesome grandparents right there. Allie was freezing by this time!

P.S. The first time I went to a place like this was my senior year of High School. I went with my parents and there was a worker who kept flirting with me. He would ask my name the first time up the tow rope, then the next time he asked for my number, etc. I was freaking out and my parents were giving me tips on how to flirt back with him. Hahaha!

Sledding hills are fun times!

Little Loves!

I love Valentine's Day! It's so fun, especially for the kidlets!
I did 14 days of Valentine's for Doug and we had fun hiding them and surprising him.
He made me homemade peanut butter cups which are delicious!
We gave Allie a heart-shaped bowl and Katelyn some forks and they had friends come over to exchange Valentine's.
We met Doug for lunch with his parents.
For our romantic evening we packed for our trip to Utah. I know, it was quite the date!
 It was a fun day!!

  So excited about her present!

 Check out that morning hair!!

These next set of pictures are the best. The girls were having so much fun hamming it up for the camera (which is rare).

Big Girl Beginnings

I am the mom that would rather do everything for her child because it's faster, cleaner, and easier.
But I've let go of one thing...eating.
Katelyn is now eating at the table, she's happier, she eats more...all because she can do it herself. She is a strong willed girl!

February Date Night

This was an at home date, focused on quality time together, and a chance to talk and relax! It was so nice and just what we needed. We were both really sore!

The Date Card
We chose: massages with body oil, hand treatment, and of course the chocolate covered treats!
We just dipped what we had on hand. Bananas, graham crackers, pretzels and cinnamon bears. Our favorites were bananas and pretzels!
Scentsy is starting a new brand called Velata in May. It's a chocolate fondue warmer. That would have been wonderful to use instead of our crock pot! hahaha!! http://www.velata.net/

If you know me, you know I LOVE chocolate covered cinnamon bears, which is why I was very excited to try this. Not even close to being as good as the store bought version! Oh well.
The body oil we got. It smelled very subtly like mangos and we mixed it with lotion...it was awesome!
A night by the fire, together. It really was so fun and so relaxing. In fact...I fell asleep during mine and Doug had to carry me up to bed! Haha, again, if you know me well this does happen on a regular basis!

What have you been doing for fun dates???

BAM! Boise Art Museum

For Allie's preschool field trip this month we went to the Boise Art Museum. It was fun to look at the different art. They were so serious about it and were very good not to touch anything. They have the coolest area for kids there. It's all hands on and they had a toddler art project for the kids to do! So fun!
 Blocks
 Magnet Wall
 Lights and color wheels
 Books
Allie was making a house (clearly)!
 Dress up
Computers. Katelyn was making a Kalideoscope picture. Doug has this on his computer at work and he has gotten so many comments about it! (Like father, like daughter)
 Making Artist Trading cards
The one on the left is the card she traded for and the one on the right was one she made herself!
Katelyn eating/drawing her cards!

Another tea party of sorts!
Hahaha, Katelyn trying on her Halloween costume before I rolled the sleeves. Looks more like a monkey than a bear :)
Allie with Dad's "cool" glasses on. If they look a little off to you, you're right. He bought dollar store frames and put his old lenses in them. What a weirdo huh!? :):)
Allie's drawings from Nephi in the Book of Mormon
Eating at Kneaders. We had an unpected surprise. My parents gave us a gift card there and didn't tell us how much was on it. We went thinking we'd owe some money. She told me my balance left on the card was $80! We could not believe it. They are so tricky! Thank you!
Swinging and sliding in January! The weather has been awesome!
Making snow playdoh with sparkles!
Cozying up by the fireplace
What my 19 month old does best...gets into mischief! Yes that's toilet paper everywhere. Splashing in the toilet is also a favorite past time.
