Trouble?

I decided to move the girls into a room together before the baby gets here so they are used to it and it's not one more thing they have to adjust to. Plus, Allie has been having nightmares lately so we thought having someone in her room would help with that. Because I'm random and spontaneous I found myself at Lowe's on Friday looking at paint, buying paint, and taping off the room to paint. Then I realized I probably shouldn't be painting since I'm pregnant and all. Oops. Well I did the prep work, Doug painted the walls, I had the crazy idea to paint chevron's on one wall, we measured, taped A LOT, and did it. And we are pleased as punch with the results. So worth all the effort! Now they are together and they are actually sleeping :) We'll see how things continue...

Backyard 1

First project.
Sprinklers.
Doug has been digging, trenching, piping, and who knows what other terms go there. All I know is he has been working like crazy. Go DOUG!!

Family Ornament

This was a perfect kid ornament. Allie pretty much made it by herself. And it's cute! Because of the buttons we had, we decided to make a candycane wreath.
We sorted buttons, made a pattern, and tied a bow. DONE!
By the time we got home last night it was time for Katelyn to get in bed...but she did get to help sort the buttons earilier in the day.
Twisting the wire
 Almost done
 Check out that concentration!
It is almost impossible to get this girl to look at the camera.

Here are a few things from the past week.

Puzzles
Katelyn climbed in here with the book and cuddled up. What a cutie!
She was very proud of herself!
Advent Calendar Day 1: Put Ornaments on the tree (notice all the necklaces as well)
Day 2: Watch a Family Christmas movie. The library had "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer."
Day 3: Put lights on the house
Day 5: Learn a Christmas song
Day 6: Get a new Christmas CD (we failed at this, rather, the libray failed us)

Playroom art work display. We got the wire from IKEA. We've been looking for something that would work for a long time!!

A surprise visit from cousins Grant and Logan and their parents on Saturday :):)
We painted our bedroom that day too.

Hugo's dinner with Doug's parents and Joshy.
Finally...my Christmas present from Doug (EARLY!) I got the vinyl from a friend and he made the maps and painted thrift store frames. They are the places we have called home: Hailey, Spokane, Boise, Logan, Green River. I love it. I love him! How thoughtful and it's perfect on that wall.

Our Abode

Yes, we love our house. It is so fun to always have something to work on. It's wonderful to have our own space to work on as we please.
I wanted to wait and take pictures until we were completely painted and decorated. But like that's ever gonna happen :) So you get what you get. It's very much a work in progress...but it gives you an idea.
This is the front room. We painted it (Behr Ocean Pearl), got the entertainment center off Craigslist and the recliner and couch are hand me downs from Doug's parents.
Then you walk down this hall into the next area...whoo hoo, here we go!
This is the family room. We painted it (Martha Stewart Moonshadow) and it looks out into our backyard.
The kitchen is right off the family room as you can see. It's even somewhat clean. That is a miracle. I love the island :)
The other part of the kitchen. We love our fridge given to us by my parents.
Garage shelves that Doug whipped out on Saturday. He's a stud, I know!
I LOVE STORAGE!!!
Right up the stairs there is a loft area which we LOVE. It's perfect for the computer because it's open but not right out in the open. Get where I'm coming from?? We painted it the same as the downstairs living room (Behr Ocean Pearl). It took us from 5PM-12AM to paint this room. It was hard because of the stairs.
Here are pictures of Doug painting above the stairs. I was freaking out...even though I was taking pictures. :)
We had to use Ben (our BIL's) ginormous ladder. I think it's called "The Little Giant."

That is all for now. I will keep updating you...when I can! The best way to see our house would be to come visit. So call now to schedule :)

New Curtains

I made some curtains for Allie's room when we lived in Spokane and now they work perfect in Katelyn's room. Allie's new room has a huge window, so we started a new project. Did you know they sell "black out fabric." It's awesome. I might have to buy some for Katelyn's now. We got the idea for these here. We adjusted her instructions quite a bit to make them work for us. But she is quite the genius when it comes to sewing and DIY projects.
We have finished the first panel and are still working on the second. They are so cute. I LOVE the fabric...A LOT!

Thursday, February 3, 2011

I had one Valentine decoration that my sister in law Lisa made for us...that cute LOVE block. So we found a great, easy, cheap one to make. You need some red buttons, a hot glue gun, an empty frame, and we used some fabric for the background. Tah-dah! You're done. Allie even helped us, so it was a fun family project. The idea came from here.

Oh we are feeling the love this month! Doug got another part time job yesterday! We are definitely blessed in so many ways.

Look at this cute dinner. It was SO scrumptious and easy too.

Our current project: New curtains for Allie's room. Hopefully we'll show you soon!

Landscape

So we decided to re-landscape the house for Doug's parents 2 weeks after having a newborn. It was crazy but fun! Doug worked out in the 95-100 degree weather getting it done. We were clueless but found some great prices and it turned out very nice. We dug out all the bark and replaced it with nice edging stones and rock, with some new plants.
These are such horrible pictures, but you get the idea. These are just of the front..but we did the sides and back as well.
Before

In the process. Allie was a lot of help digging all that dirt out.

Almost there

Done...I know it's not a good picture. Sorry!
