A moment from the past that I smiled about today. Allie at two {the age Katelyn is now}. I forget so quickly.

One..Ta-who..Three
This girl is so funny! She's counting. Listen to how she says "2." Cutest thing EVER!!!
Hiking...
I know that we get sick so we can be greatly humbled and realize how wonderful it is to be healthy. That being sad, I was feeling 90% better today and wanted to go on an adventure with the girls. So we went hiking.
Now you are probably thinking of lush, green trees, beautiful ponds and waterfalls, wildflowers...
My biggest complaint about Boise is the lack of pretty hiking. We went to a place called Camelsback. Think of a camel. The color, the humps. This hike looks like that. Brown, bare, and boring. Oh it's just not pretty. But once you're at the top you can see the whole valley and all the trees. The girls both hiked the whole thing! They did awesome and had the time of their lives. OH how I miss my Utah Canyons. I would go hiking everyday with these two! We'd have so many fun adventures!
P.S. Yes, they are totally rockin the dreads. They are a lifesaver for Allie's thick hair and we don't have to wash her hair for days. Of course Katelyn wants them too but her's don't stay in...oh well! They are cute little hippy kids!

Weekending
Our weekend started off with SOD....Free SOD! Our friends Blair and Vickie and Doug's dad Larry came and helped lay it down. I didn't touch a thing. I watched the kids. I'm lame. But, our backyard has grass!! I'm beyond happy about this. We have to stay off it for a few weeks still but it looks great and we will be more than ready to play in our backyard when the time comes!!
Saturday morning was just beautiful weather finally. It was overcast and cooler so we headed over to the Boise Farmer's Market which is always a good time. Samples, balloons, fountains, yummy food. The kids love it and were so fun!
Allie filled up a sticker chart and so we went to "Brave." I have mixed feelings about it. Good show with a good message but there are some weird and scary parts. All in all we loved the time together and had a blast! We went to clean the church afterwards and then headed over to a BBQ with some friends. There was some awesome food and company and I didn't take any pictures :(
As we walked out the door from the BBQ it started pouring rain (YES!!!) and we came home and danced in it. There is nothing better than dancing in summer rain. Especially since it rarely happens.
We got the kids in bed and sat on the porch enjoying the cool weather and the smell of rain and discussing an anniversary trip next month.
Sundays are always wonderful. We love our ward. We love our callings. Although one hour of sacrament is the most tiring thing I do all week sometimes. It is so hard to keep the kids quiet and occupied. I would love any tips from you! We love a day to rest and hang out at home with each other.

{this moment}
Welcoming home Clay Thurston from our ward from service in Afghanistan.
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

House Guests
Our wonderful, dear friends Shad and Krista stopped here to stay on their way to Utah and then on their way back home to Washington. Oh how we miss them. Now they have two little cutie boys who did so well on their trip. It was so fun to play games, go swimming, and catch up with them. Plus, we finally tried Kneader's french toast breakfast with them!! (I stole some pics from her blog) Thanks for coming you guys. Miss ya!
This was Owen's silly face!

Krista is an incredible photographer so you can clearly see a difference in her pictures. What talent!!
These guys are always doing something fun together! Wish they lived closer!
Happy 4th!
We started the 4th off with the Melba parade...a nice small town parade with loads of candy. The weather was so perfect in the morning, breezy and not too hot! Makes this momma happy!
Our favorite "Float" in the parade by far!!
It did get rather hot by mid-day so we hung out by the pool and by we I mean Doug and Allie. They both were burnt to a crisp because I used new sunscreen that apparently was worthless.
We had a BBQ and then a bike parade for the kiddos in the neighborhood. They decorated their bikes and met at the park. When I planned it I didn't know what to expect. But 2 dads came riding in on their motorcycles and lead the parade for the kids. They were so excited and even in the HEAT of the day they rode around the neighborhood 3 times! I was impressed. Such a fun, new tradition!!
Fireworks with friends and family to top it off. What a day and how grateful we are to live in the good ole USA!
