I Feel Like a Mummy

Because Doug has been at his job long enough I am able to get a new prosthetic using our insurance. It's amazing really. They will pay 90% of the cost and we pay 10%. WHAT!? I can't even get over that because I've never been insured because I'm "uninsurable." So back in May we went in and they started my new cast, made a test socket and I took it home to try it out. LOTS of adjustments needed to made on that first one. Each time I go in, it's a 2 hour session. And I'm still going in 6 months later for tiny adjustments. Man, this thing better be right when we finish! We are getting very close. It's feeling better each time.

I am starting to feel really bad about asking people to watch my kids for these 2 hour sessions. Doug's parents came over and took the girls this time and they were beyond excited! We made a few adjustments on the foot, he wrapped it up so it won't break when I'm testing it out at the gym and I'm feeling like a mummy. Tis the season I suppose!

It won't look like that...but for now it does! This appointment only took one hour so my in-laws told me to go do some errands. I did need to get treats for the Trunk or Treat later that night. I never buy stuff like that ahead of time because I always eat it all. But I did get goldfish, fruit snacks, and pencils...so it was much better than usual!

I picked the girls up, we came home and the girls had received Halloween cards from Nan and Pa C...to which they were feeling super loved. There is nothing quite like snail mail. It just makes your day!! We usually just get bills, election flyers, and other junk!

After naps I took Katelyn to the doctor to check out her rash around the mouth. It's been there for 2 weeks and I was getting worried. I don't remember what the name was called but it's a rash from wiping her face and it can last months to years. What!? That's crazy. But we were told to load on the Vasaline and try not to wipe her face. Well that will be interesting. So if you see my child with food all over her face...that's why! I promise I'm not neglecting her. So you'll notice in the next pictures, her face is all shiny. 

We got home, had some dinner and then got ready for the Trunk or Treat at the church. They did a carnival inside and then we went outside. Katelyn wanted to eat every candy she got and was determined to put each candy in her bag by herself. It took forever! They were so cute though and had a lot of fun! Allie waited until we got home to open one candy. They are so different :)

Doug is gone on Sunday mornings at bishopric meetings, etc. So it's just us girls at home and we get to relax a little, play, and get ready for church. Today Allie had her first sacrament Primary program at church. She said, "We can be more like Jesus when we listen to our prophets." She was excited and not a bit nervous. We loved watching her get into her singing and she said her part without help! So proud!

I got a nap in, then we had pumpkin muffins and eggs for dinner. Somedays I just love doing that. Allie has a talk next week in Primary so she sat down with dad and wrote an outline. Her topic is, "Blessing of the Priesthood are available to all." I love hearing her small testimony during moments like that. She knew just what she wanted to talk about. We watched our Pa C and Grammy Goff's videos that my brother made. We laughed, danced and cried. We miss them a lot!

We got the kids in bed and played Lost Cities with some friends. Now for a new week:

babysitting kids, Boise temple open house with coworkers, preschool, Halloween parties, etc. 

Chili in the Mountains

When we lived in Logan we had some friends, The Bateman's, who would go have chili in the mountains during the Fall season. Here in Boise it's harder to get to the mountains so we haven't done it...that is, until tonight! It was the best thing. Fall is the best time to be there having a fire and eating warm chili and rolls. The kids threw rocks into the creek for an hour, we collected pine cones and roasted Starbursts and had a grand old time. There's so much to love about Fall!!

Tuesday

I want to remember our day to day life. I need to write more about those things rather than just the BIG things!

We dropped Allie off at my dear friend Lisa's house. She takes Allie to preschool on Tuesdays so I can go to my favorite Zumba class. Katelyn and I drove to the gym and I got my groove on in Zumba whilst she played in the daycare. My kids love the gym daycare and I'm really grateful for that one!

It was raining buckets when I finished my class and that explains the extra amounts of sweat dripping off my face in class. It felt humid and it was! So off to the shower I went and Katelyn enjoyed some Sesame Street. Then we peeled apples and dehydrated them and it was time to pick Allie up from school.

She runs out of school yelling, "Mommy!" I love it, best feeling ever. And then she jumps into my arms. I will cherish these moments as long as they will last, which I hope is forever but know it's not! Doug's mom and dad had us over for lunch + Mattie and Josh were there too. Yes please! 7-layer dip and PB/honey sandwiches. It was awesome. And Luanne introduced us to carmel and apple candy corn. Now my life is ruined. They are so good and I am trying NOT to eat candy. So that was grand.

Nap time. Blessed nap time. Both girls took a 3 hour nap. I did laundry, read my scriptures, made some phone calls, and scheduled stuff.  I had to wake the kids up...love when that happens. Warmed up some chili for dinner that I had froze a few weeks ago and got them started on it. Doug walked in the door and I was off for my strength class at the gym. Kicked my butt but felt so great. No milk in the fridge means it's time for grocery shopping. I noticed Doug's car needed gas so I filled it up and mailed a book I sold on half.com.

Then home to put groceries away, tuck my kiddos into bed, clean the kitchen, sweep the floors, and mop (which hasn't been done in over 3 weeks). Sick...I know. Then I cuddled up to watch the LAST episode of season 2 of Chuck with my MAN. Loved today. Simple, sweet and good.

Fall Pickin' Day

Doug took the day off and we went to an Apple Orchard in Emmett. The girls were in heaven and were awesome at finding good apples. We had a picnic lunch there and came home so the girls could take naps. Then Doug's work had discount night at the pumpkin patch. So we went and played all evening. We did pick a few pumpkins but didn't end up buying any! Haha! What a fun fall day!

She was content just picking apples off the ground and putting them in her basket.

Katelyn stayed in the cow train this year! Her little head was bouncing the whole time and you could barely see it sticking out. Last year she was climbing out and Doug had to run out to catch her!
